We are glad to see that you are here again. Thanks for visiting!

EMISSIONS BASED ON CALIFORNIA

California has a mix of mainly natural gas, hydro, wind, etc. generation.

The numbers would be much higher for parts of the country that burn a lot of coal to make electricity.

Pollutant

Emission Factors*

Oxides of Nitrogen (Nox) 0.00030
Carbon Monoxide (CO) 0.00041
Reactive Organic Gases (ROG) 0.00004
Respirable Particulate Matter (PM10) 0.00004
Oxides of Sulfphur (SOx) 0.00002
Carbon Dioxide (CO2)** 0.48910

Mulitply the emission factor by

KWH reduced to find pounds of pollutants avoided

* Based on ARB year 2000 California power grid emissions

(including polluting and non-polluting sources)

**Carbon Dioxide only based on Energy

Information Agency, Department of Energy

1998-2000 averaged California grid emissions
